We could relax in the lovely garden by the pool, and the breakfast had plenty of tasty sweet and savory choices. The Palladian-style villa has a great atmosphere, the staff were very friendly, parking was easy, and the value for money was excellent. Our duplex room with a terrace was in a separate building. The upstairs bedroom and bathroom were nice, but downstairs felt oddly arranged: there was plenty of space, yet only a table, sofa, and fridge, and the interior could use an update. The lights and air conditioning controls were strange too. We couldn’t turn the AC off, so we covered it with a towel at night. On the terrace there was just one chair, the table was broken, and the ashtray was full of cigarette butts. It seemed the cleaning staff had smoked there.

The villa looks stunning from outside, and the park is very well kept. But be prepared to compete for a spot at the pool. They sell day access to people who aren’t staying at the hotel, for €18 on weekdays or €25 on weekends, with an afternoon-only option for €12 on weekdays. After paying a high room rate, it was frustrating to have to fight for pool space with non-guests. The rooms also have air conditioning that can’t be adjusted individually.

We have good memories of our stay, and the beautiful hotel and surroundings made it well worthwhile. It was very busy because of the great wedding we attended. The building is old, with stairs inside and no other way around that. The water pressure was a little weak, but it was sorted out with some time and patience.
