B&B Il Cedro Reale

I've never spent money on a stay that felt this badly wasted. I usually avoid negative reviews because I respect other people's work and don't want to spend my time spreading frustration, but this experience pushed me to write one. Getting into the B&B was a mess. You're supposed to call the numbers in the booking confirmation when you arrive. I called over and over for 20 minutes with my luggage and got no answer, so I went to the owners' restaurant in central Venaria Reale, where I had a table booked for that evening. It's about 500 meters away. I explained what had happened, and they blamed an accidental call-forwarding setting. No apology. Not a good start. The restaurant itself isn't really the subject here, but since the same people own and manage both places, I can comment on the service. It felt unprofessional and improvised. The cutlery was dirty, the food was very mediocre, and I left already dreading breakfast there the next morning. Back at the room, the first impression of the building was shockingly shabby. The hallway was bright blue and decorated with awful cubist paintings, a very kitschy look. The rooms also have no soundproofing, so I ended up hearing other guests' intimate moments. They were shabby and inconsiderate too, unfortunately. The worst part was the cleanliness. There were stains in different sizes and colors, and some hairs, on both the bedspread and sheets. Disgusting. In the morning I decided to leave and give up the next night, even though it was already paid for. I still ate breakfast at the restaurant before heading into town, partly because I needed to tell them I was leaving early. The table and chairs were dirty, the buffet had very little choice, and the coffee was awful. Then I saw the waitress touch food with her hands before serving it to guests. That was the final straw in a stay I'd rather forget. Never again.
