Hotel Colombo

The staff were lovely, welcomed us warmly, and we really appreciated their kindness. The place itself, though, was frankly appalling. Marks and substances covered the walls from top to bottom, there was a thick layer of dirt on the floor, and the room had a strong body odor smell. There were also multiple exposed wires around the room and mould in the bathroom. I fear the place is highly unsafe, so I'm leaving this review to give people a clear idea before they book.

The bedding was clean, and the staff were professional and welcoming. The shower worked, but the facility was barely functional: there were no cups in the washroom, little sound insulation, and a dirty floor. It gets noisy from 06h in the morning. You get what you pay for, and it's fine for one night at best.

The neighborhood was fine, and there was a bus stop near the hotel, but getting to central Venice meant taking a bus and then a water bus. It took about an hour in all, longer than we expected, though we didn't mind the trip. We stayed two nights. The staff were very welcoming and nice, but the room was disgusting. The comforter and walls were stained, and the shower had mold. I felt dirtier after using it, and it only had one setting, scalding hot. The room smelled bad the first night but was fine the second. The AC didn't work, so it got hot at night and we left a window open for cooler air. This place was so nasty they should've paid us to stay. I wouldn't recommend it, even if it's cheap.
