Eden Venice

This was a regular flat, not a hotel, and there was no reception. I couldn't reach the owner until 2:30 PM, so I had to carry my luggage around. I spent the day in Venice trying to call them instead of enjoying it with my students and not worrying about check-in. If you stay here, keep in mind that you can't leave luggage before check-in, which is from 2:30 to 5 PM. The rooms were uncomfortable, and there were insects. The room and toilet doors were very old and hard to close quietly. Even at a lower price, I wouldn't choose this place again.

The owner was responsive and incredibly helpful. We arrived on a night bus, and he let us rest at the apartment in the morning and check in early at 11. When we got lost on the wrong street, he even offered to pick us up. After checkout, we left our bags for a small fee since he had to arrange for someone to be there when we collected them at night, and we could rest a little before heading to the next city. The three-room apartment felt homey, with two shared bathrooms, simple, nice decor, and a clean, comfortable feel. The train station and bus stop are both within a five-minute walk, even quicker without luggage, so getting to Venice was easy. The owner and his family made us feel we had chosen well.

The hotel is close to the airport, and a nice girl greeted us, but the room was dark, had old furniture, and didn't look like the photos. It smelled old and strange, and the mirror was dirty. For two of us, there were just two small towels and one large one. There are five rooms, one kitchen, and two shared bathrooms. Cleanliness was shocking: one shower had mold, the other was full of old soap from previous guests, and the fridge and kitchen floors were dirty. The electricity went out many times, and we had to find the fuses ourselves because the owner doesn't live nearby and didn't reply to our messages. We couldn't use the kettle without losing power. Two cleaning ladies barely cleaned, maybe just changed the sheets. They sat on the balcony with a cigarette in one hand and a broom in the other, sweeping all the dirt into a corner. I know it's one of the cheapest hotels, but guests still deserve basic cleanliness.

WARNING: This is not a hotel. You share the apartment with other guests, including the bathroom and hallway. We couldn't get in touch with the owner about check-in. They didn't answer calls or messages, don't speak English, and didn't seem interested in communicating properly. It's baffling to me how a place like this has been run as a "hotel" without legal consequences.
