Hotel Villa Sara

The room was lovely and clean, and we enjoyed having a garden around us. Joy was kind and professional right from the start, and the late self check-in process worked really well.

We had a lovely afternoon by the pool before a miserable early flight. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel did what we needed, but it felt disorganized and there was little attention to detail. Right outside our window was a very unsightly pile of trash, and the dining room was full of junk. It needs a proper tidy-up.

For three hours, we had to listen to loud sexual noises from the room next door. I've never had that happen before, and I felt unsafe staying there. We had booked a room for three, but there was only one warm blanket, and the bed was too short even for someone 164 cm tall. In the morning, staff said the bed was a standard size and they weren't responsible for other guests' noise. We asked for a partial refund, but they said it wasn't possible because it was high season. Terrible.

The family who run the place are special, genuinely helpful people. In just four days, we felt like we'd known them forever. Breakfast and dinner came with fascinating stories, and we even met a famous writer. Some of the staff and directors have degrees in History and Literature. The building is an old Italian one with modern finishes, in a peaceful countryside setting, and there are good transport links from Favaro to Venice. There's also a nice pool, good facilities and space to walk. A must stop for Venice, Gianluca.
