Hotel Restaurant Waldbichl

You get exactly what you expect from a Südtiroler Gasthaus: tasty local cooking, ingredients from the area, and fair prices. Loved it.

We came in September 2025 and felt at home right away. The rooms have thoughtful little details that make them comfortable and welcoming, and the staff were attentive and genuinely friendly throughout. The food was a real highlight. Breakfast and dinner were delicious, made with fresh, high-quality regional ingredients, with a clear focus on quality and sustainability. This is a hotel with a lot of heart, and we’re sure we’ll return. 🌟

The location gives you a beautiful view over the valley, and there’s convenient parking. I’d still suggest walking up on one of the many lovely trails in the area if you can. This is a small family-run hotel with a restaurant. The dining room uses plenty of wood, and the veranda overlooking the Adige Valley is especially nice. The menu is limited and traditional South Tyrolean, but the dishes are carefully made, high quality, and served in generous portions. Friendly staff and average prices.

The spinach gnocchi were especially good, and the food overall was delicious. The staff and owner were friendly, though I would have liked a little more personal warmth. As dog owners, we were put in a separate area that was much less comfortable. Dogs can’t go into the lovely wooden-floor parlor, which left us feeling there’s a two-tier system. We also weren’t told about this restriction beforehand. If it had come up on the phone, we would have picked another restaurant. I find it sad that dog owners are increasingly excluded, especially when some dogs are cleaner and less trouble than some people.
