Camping Continental Lido

We went in spring, when the site was quiet and relatively empty, and had a great time. The animation staff made a real effort to keep our kids entertained, even when there weren’t many children around. I can imagine it gets busy when full, but it worked really well for a relaxed trip with kids. The playground is big and sits beside the bar terrace. There’s animation, fitness, a covered space with pool tables and games, clean sanitary areas, and small bathrooms for children. The beach “sand” is more like clay, but our kids had fun making castles with it. Once a week, a little train goes to the tiny market in mergozzo. You can catch a bus to stresa or verbania, and walking to verbania with kids took us about an hour and a half. Bike trails are everywhere. The kids loved it.

Those queues really dragged the stay down. Check-in took 30 to 40 minutes with hardly anyone waiting, a couple of pizzas took 50 minutes to an hour, and checking out took nearly two hours. The process is so slow that the lines get ridiculous. They need to improve it. The campsite itself is nice and well equipped, with a large pool, beach, and activities around the site. The pool could use a couple more slides.

We’ve had Hourieh as our fitness instructor at the camping site, Isolino and now Continental, for the past two years. She brings so much energy and dedication, and her range of classes lets everyone train at their own level. She’s made a huge difference to our holidays. Hourieh is the heart and soul of the camping staff, and we really appreciate all her hard work. Her classes are well worth trying. Thank you so much, Hourieh! It’s also a great place to visit with small children, with lots to keep them happy every day. Happy kids make happy parents too :)

There’s a lake and beach, pools, football and tennis courts, and playgrounds, so families with kids have a lot to do. But the place felt crowded over a holiday long weekend, and I missed having more nature and character. It wasn’t a bad choice for families, but I wouldn’t pick it again because of that lack of nature.
