There’s plenty of character in this little apartment, and the view is pretty. It has all the essentials. Just be ready for the steep, narrow stairs, especially if you’ve got heavy bags like we did. The single beds weren’t very comfortable for two teenagers, so they might suit younger kids better.

The setting is hard to beat. Getting there takes you through the town’s alleys and up over the rooftops, and the scenery is beautiful. The amenities covered what we needed. We stayed with our children, who were 16 and 10 at the time, and would highly recommend it as a place to stay in Vernazza.

The view was the only real positive. I asked two days ahead whether we could check in early and got no reply. When we arrived, we waited three and a half hours for the keys and called again and again without anyone answering. Inside, the TV had only three channels, the bathroom door didn’t work, and the blanket was covered in dog hair. For two days away at this price, the quality just wasn’t there.
