Corte Del Gallo

The room was clean and comfortable, and Corte del Gallo is an easy walk from the train station. Roberto was genuinely warm, welcoming and hospitable, and the breakfast was generous and delicious. When we arrived, he asked about our food preferences. My wife is strictly vegan, and I'm mostly vegan apart from the occasional egg or cheese. He went out of his way to buy soy milk that day so Deana would have it at breakfast the next morning. My wife and I just got back from ten days in Italy, and our best three were at Corte del Gallo. Before arriving, we'd spent three days at a vegan agritourismo in Tuscany that cost roughly three times as much. If we did the trip again, we'd skip that place and stay a week longer at Corte del Gallo.

The sea view at breakfast was lovely, and the owners made us feel genuinely welcome. They’re kind and ready to help, and the place was clean and quiet. The location worked really well too. If you arrive by train, it’s only a two-minute walk. If you drive down to Corneglia, take it slowly, then leave the car parked for the rest of your stay and use the train to get around.

Roberto had great local tips, and breakfast under the olive trees overlooking the Ligurian sea was a dream. He served a generous spread with bacon, eggs made how you like them, fruit, rolls, and really good OJ. It was a wonderful start before heading out to hike the Cinque Terre trails. If you’d rather avoid the crowds, this is a good place to stay.
