La Perla delle 5 Terre

Vernazza makes a perfect base for Cinque Terra activities, and in the evening, when most tourists leave, it feels like you're a local. The walk to Corniglia is breathtaking. Our balcony had a lovely view, and I liked that the lodging wasn't right in the town center. The restaurant next door is great for morning coffee, rolls, and pastries, and also serves good meals later. Their bruschetta sandwich is very good. I did wish there had been somewhere on site to make coffee. The staff were friendly and helpful. My room wasn't plush, but it was clean, well furnished, and very comfortable, with a good bed. The bathroom was small but functional and more than adequate.

It's a bit pricey for the area, though fine for a night in vernazza. The interior has been renovated and was acceptably clean. The building is below a restaurant, so it can be a little noisy sometimes, but nothing too extreme. There is no parking, and you can't drive into the area without a special permit, which is only for residents.

Room 9 had a great view, but it was quite noisy at night. I could hear chairs and doors screeching upstairs. We later moved to room 7, which was much quieter and had more space.

The shower leaked, but otherwise it was a cool, safe, and very nice place. It's just above the village, away from the busy street, with an easy walk down the road.
