Locanda Il Carugio

We spent five nights here in May and enjoyed every bit of it. Corniglia ended up being our favorite town, quieter and smaller than the others, with a few great restaurants and easy access to hiking trails. The hosts took time to explain how to get around by foot and train and suggested restaurants. Our modern room was great, and breakfast each morning was cooked to order, with excellent croissants and fresh juice. The rooftop, where we ate breakfast and sunbathed, had an amazing view. We’d be back in a heartbeat.

The three-room setup gives this place a relaxed feel, and the rooms are spotless. The hosts are wonderful and put together amazing breakfasts. It’s a few hundred metres from Corniglia’s historic centre, which suited us well because it was peaceful and quiet, though that may not be everyone’s preference. They also have designated parking spots, especially handy in peak season. We’d happily stay again, even just for breakfast.

Corniglia was our favorite of the Cinque Terre villages. It felt peaceful and family-friendly, a welcome change from the busier villages, and we were glad it wasn’t overlooked. Giulia and Gianpaolo and their family were warm, welcoming, and professional. The breakfasts really do live up to the praise, and were both delicious and healthy. Our room was clean and modern, with a lovely shared area beside the three rooms. In good weather, breakfast is served on the rooftop terrace, which has a gorgeous view toward the village of Manorla. We’d love to come back and highly recommend this B&B.

Our honeymoon stay here was the best part of the trip. Corniglia was our favourite among the Cinque Terre towns, and Locanda il Carugio made a perfect base for exploring. Gianpaulo and Giulia were so kind and welcoming, made excellent breakfasts every day, and answered all our questions. GP also showed us his gardens and gave us homemade marmalade when we left. I could have stayed a month. A 100/10 recommendation.
