The rooms were spotless, breakfast was delicious, and there’s parking on site. Masseria Carlini is about 20 minutes from Torre dell'Orso, 45 minutes from Otranto, and an hour from Ostuni and Punta Prosciutto, a good base for a peaceful break. Mr. Antonio is a humble, wonderful host who clearly loves welcoming people and making them feel at home. Each morning he picks fruit from the garden he cares for and brings it to the breakfast table, set among the greenery. This place has a unique, exceptional atmosphere and is superbly managed. Come here, you won’t regret it. Thank you for everything, Mr. Antonio.

It’s wonderfully quiet, surrounded by nature and set away from the bustle while still in a strategic location. Mr. Antonio was incredibly kind, and on our second day he brought us plums he’d picked from his own garden.

Outside the gate, a sign calls this a “VISITABLE PROPERTY,” and it also makes a useful starting point for seeing the village of Acaya. Mr. Antonio’s love for his home, land, and village comes through in the thoughtful details, beyond the beauty of the Masseria itself. This family-run farmhouse has recently been renovated, with restored antique furniture giving the rooms an old-time feel alongside modern touches. Breakfast included typical local products, fresh fruit, and homemade cheese, served at a small outdoor table facing the courtyard and vegetable garden. I highly recommend staying here if you’re interested in history and architecture.

The homemade caciotta is especially good, but what I really want to mention is the host, Mr. Antonio. He’s delightful and clearly knows every little secret of Acaia (a hamlet of Vernole), a place he feels deeply connected to. We enjoyed hearing his stories over breakfast and going to places he suggested, including the castle. Wandering the village streets by pedal rickshaw was lovely too. We’ll definitely return.
