Inside are striking frescoes, reliquaries, and a statue dating to the tenth century. The building began as a Roman temple to the Egyptian goddess Isis, then became a Christian church in the fifth century and later served for a time as Verona's main cathedral. A unique place and definitely worth visiting in Verona.

Really beautiful church, and there always seems to be someone around who can share a bit of its history or an interesting detail.

The church itself looks beautiful, and this wouldn't put me off visiting. But this isn't a review of the church or an attempt to discourage anyone from going. During a thunderstorm we were sitting quietly on the sidewalk under shelter. A woman came over, angrily shut the door behind us, said nothing, and left us outside in the rain with the door locked. It made me wonder where the kindness had gone, and what happened to “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”?
