The room was functional, if a little tired, and the bed and shower were fine. What really let the stay down was arriving at Bue Nero at the stated check-in time to find the doors shut, with no notice or instructions. We had only one night in Verona and wanted to drop our bags and see the city. We called two numbers and got no answer, messaged the property, and waited in the rain before deciding to book somewhere else. Then a woman arrived and went inside without greeting us or apologizing. Even though we were first, she checked in the Italian-speaking guests ahead of us. When she finally dealt with us, it was perfunctory, with no welcome or apology for leaving us outside. It was a poor start in an otherwise lovely city. I understand locals may be tired of tourists, but guests are paying good money, and a little welcome can make all the difference.

All they seem interested in is getting paid. There was no customer service.

Our room had a lovely balcony looking onto the square, and it was simply but tastefully furnished. The apartment is right in the center, making everything easy to reach. It was very clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
