Domus Mea- Adults Only

We had a really good stay at Domus Mea. Our room came with its own bathroom and a balcony, and it was very comfortable. The staff were kind and attentive. There’s a shared kitchen area with tea, coffee and cookies, plus a fridge and microwave you can use. The location in Verona is perfect.

Good value for a night in Verona. The room was a decent size and the bed was comfortable. The shared bathroom was fine, though the shower wasn’t the best. It’s about a 15-minute walk to both the train station and the main center.

I felt unsafe and couldn’t sleep that night, even though I’d done nothing wrong. The owner wouldn’t leave until I paid, so I paid just to get out of the situation. He got angry and yelled at me, then argued over the phone and later in person, saying I had never canceled and that the cancellation email from him was wrong. I was told I had to pay for two bookings, even though I had an email from the owner confirming that one had been canceled. The woman helping us had to call him, and he kept insisting I owed the money. This started when we tried to extend our original one-night stay. I emailed about a month ahead, but got no reply. Instead, a cancellation notice arrived. I asked why and again heard nothing. I then booked two nights again and got a confirmation. We arrived a little before 3:00, but nobody came until 3:30. We’d been sitting outside in 100-degree heat and were about to leave. They couldn’t find the reservation, so they used the printout I had and made us pay upfront. After taking us to a room, they moved us to another one about ten minutes later. Then, ten minutes after that, the woman returned and said there were two reservations. I’ve traveled a lot, including around Italy, and never run into anything like this. The owner said he’d never had a problem either, but reading other reviews now makes that hard to believe. I should have looked beyond the rating. If they’d handled it differently, I might have felt otherwise, but this was the most unprofessional place I’ve stayed. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone hoping to relax.

The rooms were clean, but this place is noisy. Even when you book a room with a private bathroom, it’s actually separate from the room, so you don’t get much privacy.
