Guesthouse Verona

I’d choose this hotel again, especially for its quiet area and easy access to the station. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the train and bus station, and from there line 199 takes just 20 minutes to the airport. The Arena is around a leisurely 20-minute walk away. The hotel uses three adjoining buildings, and the restaurant is in the main one, about 20 metres from where I stayed in Martini. I was initially disappointed about being in a separate building, but nearly every room there has a balcony, so it wasn’t a big issue. My room was spacious, with a very large double bed, balcony and shower. It was clean, and housekeeping did a very good job every day. The cleaning staff were lovely and helpful, as were the polite hotel staff. There’s an elevator, though guest rooms start on the second floor. Entry is a little odd: you have to use the intercom to have reception open the door, and guests don’t get a building key. The room had a kettle, two cups, hair dryer, mini fridge, TV, air conditioning and window blinds. There was soap and shampoo, but no shower gel. I also missed having a wardrobe or decent clothes shelves, and a shelf for toiletries in the bathroom would’ve helped. Breakfast was a highlight, with lots of different dishes, drinks and fresh cakes. There are also two cafes and a grocery store nearby.
