Hotel Corte Ongaro

Worst experience. I called to cancel less than 20 hours after booking because I'd had a car accident, but they charged me the full price. The staff were very rude, wouldn't let me speak to the manager, and refused to give me the manager's name when I asked.

The hotel has a lovely rooftop, and I was pleasantly surprised to find real grass up there rather than artificial turf. Breakfast is included and was perfectly fine, with a good range for everyone. The place is just outside Verona, but getting around was easy: there's a bus stop just across the road and it's a quick seven-minute ride. Staff were helpful and attentive. The reception lady brought extra pillows to our room when we asked. The bed was comfortable, and the rooms were quiet, clean and had plenty of power sockets. Wi-Fi was usable but patchy in some parts of the room. Our cupboard lights kept flashing, so we left them off. The hair dryer was broken; we told staff, who said they'd sort it as soon as possible. No major complaints, and I'd recommend the hotel.

The rooms felt dated and weren't very clean, with cigarette burn holes in the curtains. Service was average, and breakfast was OK but could have had more variety. There's no soundproofing at all. Even as a heavy sleeper, I could hear all kinds of noise from other rooms. Wi-Fi was weak and very unstable too.

It was very clean and quiet, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I enjoyed the coffee, and there was free water flavoured with fresh fruit that day. The bread selection was very small. Our mattresses were too hard, and even after we complained, nothing improved, despite being in a superior room. The Jacuzzi was clean but very worn, and on the second day, when it was above 30°C, it was too hot to use in summer.
