The hostel has a great interior, and I really liked the bathrooms. The heater was a lifesaver for my clothes after they got soaked in the rain, and I appreciated having a hairdryer too. I’m used to sleeping under duvets, so the blankets felt like an interesting choice, though I’ve noticed this at most hostels. I’d also suggest reusable cups instead of single-use plastic ones, since they’re easy enough to wash in the bathroom sink. Check-out is quite early, at 10:00. Still, it’s an amazing mission, and I’m glad I stayed here.
This hostel is also part of a center that protects women and children. Staying here helps support its work providing shelter and support to people in need. The room was clean and a reasonable size, with air conditioning and a clean shower room.
The room was much nicer than it looked in the photos, and the layout split it in half so it didn’t feel like there were so many people around. The bed was really comfortable, a first for me in a hostel. It could have been cleaner, though. The location in the city center is absolutely superb, the staff were nice, and the price was amazing.
Really upsetting behavior. I told them ahead of time that my bus was delayed. I’d booked one that was supposed to get me there at 4:30, but traffic held it up. Booking.com said check-in was until 6, and at first it looked like I’d arrive around 6:30. The traffic got worse and I arrived at 7:30 instead. I kept them updated the whole time. I’m glad I didn’t see Alice’s reply until after I’d checked in. She wrote: “Hi, we are sorry, but we can't do check-in now. We are waiting for you from 6:30 pm. You can cancel” It was awful to read that after I’d kept them informed. I’d booked ahead and needed somewhere to sleep, and the bus delay wasn’t my fault. It wasn’t the middle of the night either. They describe themselves as an organization that helps women in need, yet apparently would have let someone who had paid and kept them updated sleep on the street, even though staff were there until 11 pm. Their leaflets say check-in is until 8. Seriously, who does that? Great staff!
The room and bed were decent, looked clean, and seemed recently renovated. The air conditioning was a gift from God, and the hostel is in a very good location. The price is okay, so I’d generally recommend it. There isn’t much else to say, nothing special even for a cheap stay. The workers were just okay and didn’t seem keen to help. I asked for information, but they didn’t manage to answer my message on Booking.com. They also had no band-aids when I needed one. I should have been more careful and brought my own, and of course a hostel isn’t obligated to provide them. Still, it seemed odd for a place that mainly operates as a shelter for women in need and hosts women and children in need. There was no hand soap in the bathroom either. Again, they aren’t required to supply it, but it’s the first hostel I’ve stayed in that didn’t have any.
