Residenza Sant'Elena

We booked through booking.com a couple of months ahead, then the hotel cancelled our reservation less than 12 hours before check-in. We were travelling through the Alps and only noticed a few hours before we were due to arrive. When I called the owner, he said it was our problem and didn't seem to care, even though we'd received an email the day before asking when we'd arrive. I can only assume he found someone willing to pay more and cancelled us.

The place was bad, and the website photos don't look like the real thing. The location was good, though.

Getting luggage up to this second-floor apartment was a hassle since there’s no elevator. Check-in is by appointment, and arriving outside the agreed time for any reason means paying an extra fee, unlike a hotel where you can check in at any time. The place itself was old, dirty, and uncomfortable, with a broken shower, a loose toilet seat, and clogged drains. It was a really bad experience.

The location is very convenient, but the place needs work on cleanliness and how things are kept inside. Dust bunnies were floating around, and the shower was broken. We left you two bottles of water, which you didn't.
