On our third stay, the hotel still had the old-fashioned magic of a charming “old lady” on the Tyrrhenian coast, where fashionable people from all over Europe used to gather. It’s comfortable, set in a nice garden, with lovely sea views at sunset and its own parking. Reception staff were kind and helpful. The restaurant was a different story. We ate there for the first and last time. The food was quite lousy, and the older staff were very unpleasant. They brought a different wine from the one we ordered, then insisted it was the same wine with a new label. It felt like they assumed that because we weren’t Italian, we couldn’t understand Italian wines and must be stupid. We’ll happily stay at the hotel again, but won’t go back to its restaurant.

The location was central, and getting free bike rentals was an unexpected joy. The pool was so serene, and the staff were great. Our room was lovely, and the breakfast buffet was unreal. Everything was perfect. We stayed for 2 nights in July 2025, and that wasn’t enough time.

GHRViareggio has amazingly reasonable rates for the quality of the property, hospitality, and location. In America, something equivalent, though it’s hard to find a parallel in the new world, would cost 5-10x as much. The hotel is a classic gem of Viareggio, with an incredible location and fantastic breakfast. The staff are warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable. I wish everyone in the world could have the privilege of visiting this extraordinary hotel! 🙏🌌🌊🌟🌈⛵️🌅

We only had a day, so we spent it at the beach, then in the garden and pool, before wandering to a nearby restaurant for amazing seafood. Booking parking and a beach spot was a good call. The buffet breakfast was stunning, too. I hadn’t known where to stay, but positive reviews led me to take a chance on this beautifully appointed hotel, and I’m glad I did. It’s right across from the beach, about as close as you can get, and the staff were friendly. We had a lovely time and would highly recommend it.

Traveling with our young baby was easy here. The team provided a very comfy cot with a mattress, for a charge, plus a changing table and baby bath in the room. There was a clean, good baby chair at breakfast as well. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful, and the service was excellent. The pool is excellent, with plenty of loungers and a garden. We had lunch by the pool one day and enjoyed it. Breakfast was one of the best buffets I’ve had, with almost everything and very good quality. Our room had a wonderful sea view, and if you can get one with a balcony, they’re small but lovely. It was our first time in viareggio. The hotel is in a great spot, an easy walk to the beach and all the restaurants along the promenade. For more authentic local restaurants full of Italians instead of tourists, I’d go past the port. Would highly recommend, thanks for a great stay!
