Hotel La Pace

The room was quite small at 18 sqm, but everything was very clean and the staff were lovely. The hotel is right by the beach, with a great view of both the sea and the main street.

The view of the sea from the window was the only redeeming part, and it wasn't worth the price. The hotel sits at a traffic-light intersection, so it was noisy, and the thin walls let us hear a couple in the next room having sex. Breakfast was ordinary and poor. Our room was tiny and dirty, with old, heavily worn furnishings and broken amenities. The cleaning chemicals smelled terrible. The toilet wouldn't flush, the bathroom shelf was broken, the mirror light didn't work, and the shower hose leaked. Even the towels smelled musty and moldy. This was my worst experience ever. Don't trust the positive reviews or lovely photos, they felt completely fake.

A week before our June stay, the hotel told me it was fully booked and couldn't host us, despite confirming my room preferences when I booked three rooms in January. Those preferences were just single beds rather than doubles, and I appreciated that the hotel had contacted me first to verify them. They arranged for us to stay at a nearby, cheaper hotel but charged me the same rate I had paid for sea-view rooms. The staff at the other place were very friendly and I can't fault them, but I would have paid less if I'd booked there directly. By then, most hotels were full and there weren't other options. This bait-and-switch felt unprofessional and like bad business. Be warned, booking here doesn't guarantee you'll stay here.

I was here for five days. The staff were really nice, the room was cleaned every day, and I had a lovely view from the bedroom window. The one issue was the TV. It didn't work, and I think the decoder needs updating, not just because of bad weather.
