B&B Martorelli

The owner is kind and very helpful, and it’s a nice place. With the right maintenance, it could be a five-star spot.

When we arrived, they didn’t even register us, so we could have been anyone. The place was filthy, with cobwebs and spiders everywhere, a completely dirty toilet, dust piled up all over, and extremely dirty sheets. Cleanliness, hygiene, and hospitality were nonexistent, and the staff were terrible. The property really stands out for filth and rudeness. I wouldn’t go back even if they paid me.

The breakfast was generous, with drinks, a croissant, assorted biscuits, and cereals to choose from. The rooms were clean and spacious, though I missed having a refrigerator, which is always useful in summer, and a small desk. There’s no surface to use apart from the bedside tables, along with a chair. The pool is large but a bit dirty, unfortunately. It’s about a five-minute drive from the Villammare seafront. The church bells are loud and ring at night too.

We come back to Luigi (Martorelli) every year for a couple of days, and really enjoy our stay. The B&B is up the hill in Vibonati, about a five-minute drive from the sea. It works well for getting to Sapri, and I especially like it as a base for the beaches of Maratea, around 20-25 minutes away. There’s a small swimming pool the kids love, surrounded by lots of well-kept greenery. Breakfast is enough to satisfy everyone, with croissants, cappuccino, juice, yogurt, and more. It could be even better with some homemade tarts or cakes. All in all, it’s a good B&B!
