Le Ancore

We had a wonderful stay, and I hope to come back. The service was exceptional, and we could also use the pools and beach at the neighboring property. From the balcony, our room had amazing views across the Bay of Naples to Vesuvius. The hotel overlooks the marina, with lots of good restaurants an easy walk away. It was also simple to catch a ferry to Capri or a train to Pompeii.

By the end of my four days, the quieter, less touristy waterfront area had really grown on me. It isn't in Sorrento or up on the cliffs, but there's beach access and the marina is just steps away. The place was clean, and the staff were super friendly. Breakfast had a good spread. My room felt a little sparsely decorated, though perhaps that's usual for a more traditional Italian hotel. The bathroom's soaking tub was great, and the tile work was beautiful. They made it easy to arrange excursions and ferries to Positano, Amalfi, and Capri, with the boat leaving from the dock just steps from the hotel. Just a heads-up, you'll need euros to book, and there isn't an exchange service or ATM nearby.

Room 8 worked well for our family, with two good-sized rooms, two TVs, and views of the sea and volcano. We were glad we chose this relaxing place instead of Naples. Breakfast was nice, with good cakes and proper Italian coffees. Every member of staff seemed to genuinely care about guests, and they made us feel very welcome. We had a great family stay in February 2019.

We stayed in mid-October and had an amazing time. The bed was really comfortable, even with my back problems, and the hotel was extremely clean and smelled wonderful. The staff were kind and very helpful. It's easy to get to Positano and other places along the Amalfi Coast. I liked being outside the main city areas and away from the traffic, and I'd definitely come back.
