Relais Ohana

It’s very quiet at night, so we slept well after long days out. The room itself was modern, clean, and really nice. There aren’t many breakfast places to choose from, though, and the road to Sorrento can be tricky. Go with a confident driver and take care on the way.

The town is quite hard to reach, which is the one thing I’d change. The room itself was one of the best I’ve had in Italy: new-feeling, clean, and with a luxurious touch. It had air-conditioning, a kettle for coffee, a fridge, a heater, and a balcony. The cleaner did a great job, even with the small details. There’s free breakfast at a shop on the same street, which is a nice extra, and the price feels very fair for the quality. Parking is a little farther along, in a private area behind a secure fence. I’d easily recommend the room.

The hotel’s parking information is misleading. It says there’s a lot 650 meters away, but that lot has nothing to do with the hotel. We left our car there, went to the hotel, and spoke with the manager. We had booked seven days, but because the walk was too much with my pregnant wife, we asked to stay just one night and leave. They said the unused days wouldn’t be refunded. We explained her health issue and special situation, but the management treated it as a business matter and left us feeling badly treated. I told them, “My wife is pregnant, we will have difficulty walking this way,” and they still didn’t help. There’s also a small repair shop across from our room. Three people work there half naked, and the buildings are so close that we couldn’t use the balcony. We kept the blinds shut and stayed inside. Knowing these conditions, I would never have come here.

Gina and her staff give the place a luxurious feel while keeping a personal touch. There’s a lovely scent throughout, and breakfast comes from an authentic Italian bakery next door, run by an older couple. You can have as many of their fresh pastries as you like, and they’re unbelievable. The village is high in the mountains, and even the drive up is exciting. It made our budget vacation feel magical. We’ll definitely be back!
