I know the area pretty well, but last July was my first stay at the Duchessa. I was visiting Italian friends on a motorcycle trip from Ireland. It's a beautiful hotel with lovely rooms and excellent service, and there's good parking too. I could relax and unwind after a nice evening in the Square in vicoforte.

Right beside the town's famous church, and only about a 10-minute walk from some restaurants and a gelateria, this is one of the most iconic hotels I've visited. The details take you back to another age, when luxury felt simple, and the place has a real sense of the golden days. The rooms are nicely done. There's no elevator, so don't bring too much luggage. Service was okay, though at times we had to go looking for staff because they'd disappeared 😆

The staff were so attentive, and nothing felt like too much trouble. Breakfast was a fresh, standard continental spread. It's a lovely place for a relaxing break away from everything.
