Al Faro Guest House

We spent five days there a few days ago. The only good point was that the owner communicated well. Otherwise, the standard was very low, and it felt more like a workers' hotel than an apartment. The kitchen was old and poorly equipped, without even a kettle. Sleeping in the kitchen was unpleasant because there was no window and it felt impossible to breathe. The shower cubicle was tiny, and the water temperature couldn't be adjusted to avoid getting scalded. The bathroom ventilation was so noisy that we worried it might fall on us. There were several garbage cans on the balcony, hidden from view in the photos, so it wasn't somewhere we could relax. The hot water heater was also so loud that we couldn't have a conversation.

It's a beautiful, charming place, easy to reach in winter, with convenient parking. Still, the apartment needs maintenance, so I can't give it more stars. Two light bulbs were burnt out, there were bathroom leaks and a lot of mold in the closet and inside the kitchen cabinets. The bidet plug didn't work, the balcony curtain only opened halfway, and the air conditioning drained condensation straight onto the balcony floor. Small issues, but unpleasant. What a shame!

The setting felt authentic and poetic, and the apartment had a magnificent view. It's central but tucked away from the noise. It was clean, the bedding was excellent, and the owner was kind. I highly recommend it.

Vera was especially kind and helpful. After I got a flat tire in the center of Vieste on a Sunday, she helped me find a tire repairer she knew. It was resolved in an hour, and she literally saved me. Thanks again. If I come back to Vieste, I'll stay at Faro Guest House again! The apartment is right in the center, with a breathtaking view, exactly as shown in the attached photo from my room. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and I had a pleasant stay. Highly recommended!
