Hotel Residence Villa Ascoli

We booked half board as a couple, and ended up extending our holiday because the warm, relaxed, homely feel made us feel at home. The sea is just steps away, and the rooms are cozy and clean. The home-cooked meals were a lovely surprise, full of authentic flavor. It’s family-run, and the owners are welcoming, easy-going, and happy to see to guests’ needs. We’d recommend it to anyone wanting to get away from daily stress and recharge.

The owners were warm and helpful, and the pool was small but clean and peaceful. The hotel is at the start of the Vieste seafront. Breakfast had lots of fresh treats, and dinner was plentiful, high quality, and very good. The letdown was the starter, which was really bruschetta with tomatoes and a tiny olive frittata, or something like that, rather than a proper appetizer. Salad was the side dish all seven nights. If they improved the starter and varied the sides, they’d deserve a solid six stars.

We spent nine days here on half board. It’s a quiet spot, only a five-minute walk from the sea, and our apartment was clean. The family running it were friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The food was excellent. Thanks again for a lovely holiday.

The room was clean, but the amenities were awful, from the double bed made of two singles to the shower with a poor, barely working head. Limescale seemed to leave almost no water flow, and the shower tiles were chipped enough to risk injury. Even the towel changes didn’t take the couple into account. Villa Ascoli was a nightmare vacation for us. After a long trip we weren’t even offered a glass of water. As for peace and quiet, mornings were noisy from 6:45 onward, and around 9 the cleaning staff came into the room while we were still there. It was stressful, not relaxing, and definitely not an experience I’d repeat.
