Passo dell'Arciprete No.4

We had a lovely holiday during the week of August 15th. Gaetano and Michelina were warm, friendly, and ready to help, and made the place feel like home. The residence is a short walk from the sea, with amenities just two minutes away on foot. The private pool was clean and well looked after, without feeling crowded. Thanks again to Gaetano and Michelina for such a wonderful stay!

Vieste itself is gorgeous, and the real issue here was the property and the way we were treated. I spent two weeks with my family, and I wouldn't recommend staying here. What we got didn't match the website description, and the hospitality was poor. We chose the place because we had a dog and the website said pets were accepted. When Gaetano saw him, he immediately said the dog shouldn't bark because it would be a nuisance. I explained that barking is how dogs communicate, and that if he wasn't welcome, they could have said so before we booked. Instead, she told me to unload the car. We went back to pay within five minutes because the mother wanted the balance straight away. They then came up with all sorts of strange reasons for not wanting a bank transfer and insisting on cash. I'd already paid a €500 deposit by bank transfer, and I said, smiling, that I didn't have €1,700 in my pocket. They treated us like thieves. I still remember the mother saying in Apulian dialect, “What are you laughing at? You have to pay us!” I would have left then, but didn't want to ruin the holiday, so we agreed to withdraw the money and pay. Then came the receipt. After several excuses, she brought one for €500 the day before we left. I pointed out that we'd paid €2,200, and that started another argument. The mother said they paid too much tax. After I insisted, they gave me a receipt for the remainder, but deducted €2.50 for 13 days of tourist tax and €50 for cleaning, saying those amounts shouldn't have been declared. We should only have had to pay tourist tax for 10 days. We were exhausted, so we accepted it and left. I hope a tax inspector comes to stay here one day. The rooms were nothing like the photos on the website, and it's a shame you can't post pictures here on Google. The website says the sea is 800 meters away, but it was actually 1900 meters along a road that's impossible to walk on. You just need to find a place in Vieste and know how to treat your guests.

We were comfortable here. The apartments were good, and the outdoor showers were really convenient. The property sits among olive trees and has a lovely, well-kept pool. Michelina and Gaetano are friendly, down-to-earth owners. Thanks, we'll be back.
