Tenuta Montincello

A simple, functional apartment at a very affordable price. The place is clean and well cared for, set in a lovely olive grove surrounded by real countryside. There’s also a romantic barbecue area.

For what we paid, the apartment was decent. It’s spacious, fairly new and has what you need, with lots of outdoor room for eating outside and using the grills. Kids can roam freely. There isn’t much else to offer beyond the accommodation, though. Scialmarino beach is a 15-minute walk. Phone reception at the property is poor or nonexistent, and Wi-Fi only works at reception. The apartments get sun from early morning, so eating on the veranda is very hot. They really need at least an awning for shade in the hottest hours. Customer service could be better too. Our car had a problem on checkout day, but after we handed over the keys we were urged to leave as quickly as possible. It would have been courteous to offer us a short wait on one of the many outdoor benches while we sorted it out.

We found the two-room apartment spotlessly clean and comfortable, and the owners were attentive and very helpful with ideas for places to see and eat. Our dog could move around safely thanks to a small gate the owner provided. The estate is peaceful, with parking among the olive trees and a shared laundry area with a washing machine. Each apartment has a roomy veranda with a table and chairs, and there are lovely barbecue spots in the grove where you can grill and eat outdoors. The beach is a 10-minute walk or a 2-minute drive away, and the village is a few minutes by car.

We felt right at home during our week in July. The villa was clean, functional and welcoming, and had everything we needed. The estate is well placed, with amenities within walking distance and Scialmarino Bay especially close. The owners were kind and helpful, and Alice gave us valuable advice. I’d highly recommend it for a genuinely relaxing stay, and we’ll make it a regular stop on our summer holidays. See you soon.
