Hotel delle More

The rooms were spacious and clean, the view was really good, and the staff were friendly. The shuttle drivers were awesome, and the rides to the city center and beach were on time. Service was good too. But the food was bad, which is a shame for a 4-star hotel. During our seven-night stay, not one dinner had everything edible. At least two servings every evening were either not properly cooked, different from their descriptions, or simply inedible. This was a five-course menu. For example, this is supposed to be a soup...

We were in room 203, where the Wi-Fi signal wasn't good. We complained to the front desk more than once, but they didn't fix it or offer a solution. Even though it was low season and the hotel had few guests, they didn't move us to another room, despite rooms being available.

We used the shuttle to the beach during the day and to the town center at night. The drivers were handy, and the town was a walk away too. The hotel sits away from Vieste's main strip, and the view depends on where your room is. Our simple room was quiet, with firm beds. Breakfast had a good range of pastries, fruit, cereal, and yogurt, and the service was attentive. The bar also had good service. There's a wellness center, games room, and restaurant inside; the wellness center was closed when we visited, and the games room was okay, though the pool table was out of order. Outside, there's a large pool with a bar and a small wading pool. The attendant was helpful and seemed to really care about his job. We hadn't brought swim caps, which were required, but could buy them at the bar.

The hotel feels like a step back to the Soviet Union of the 80s, and even though it's renovated, the retro look won't appeal to everyone. Our room was big but plain and a bit depressing. It's a long walk to town and there's not much around apart from the sea, so whether the location works depends on what you're here for. There are plenty of good points too: lots of space and amenities, very clean, close to the beach, and a huge pool if you visit in season. The front desk spoke good English, breakfast was nice, dinner is available after 7:30pm, and the shuttle service was great.
