Hotel Voce Del Mare

The location and the good view were the only positives. This is the worst hotel we’ve stayed in. The bathroom was in terrible condition and hadn’t been cleaned at all. There were shaved hairs all over the shower room, and the floor was dirty. Ants came out of the light switch and crawled over the towels, bin, and floor. The extraction fan didn’t work, so the bathroom was muggy and smelly. The room furniture was old and worn, and the air conditioner didn’t work properly. It couldn’t cool the room, which was at 27 degrees. There was no internet in the room, and breakfast was very poor. The whole building and restaurant were hot and muggy too. This hotel shouldn’t have a four-star rating, and rooms like this shouldn’t be available to rent.

We paused here during our ride from Salerno to Minori. My wife and I only stopped for a few minutes, but the view was magnificent.

A week before we were due to arrive, the hotel cancelled our reservation, even though we had booked six months ahead. They first claimed our card was invalid. We sent two other cards, and got the same email back each time, as if a bot was replying, then they cancelled the booking. We’ve used those credit and debit cards around the world without this kind of trouble at other hotels. This was the first time we’d run into such poor communication and card problems. We emailed and sent a WhatsApp message asking why they cancelled and how we could sort it out. Two days went by with no reply. Calls to WhatsApp and the mobile number went unanswered, and nobody called back. It seems they may have wanted to cancel so they could offer the room again at a higher price. Watch out for this scam.

We booked weeks ahead, then a week before arrival they started trying to push the price up by rejecting not one card but four. It’s the same story as most of the other reviews here. Be careful with this hotel, it feels like a scam to get a higher rate.
