Seaside House

A really negative experience. They shouldn't be allowed to run a hospitality place in this condition. There was no heating or hot water, and the windows were left wide open, apparently to hide the smell of dirt and mold throughout the apartment. We slept with our clothes on the bed. There was so much dust on the bed slats and around the house that it made us feel sick.

The location would have been good, which makes it a shame that the apartment was dirty and badly maintained when I arrived. It didn't look like the listing photos, and the Wi-Fi, despite being listed as an amenity, didn't work for my whole stay. Parking was another hassle. There was no space under the building, and finding a spot nearby was very difficult unless you paid. Management and cleanliness need improvement, and the host should be changed outright. Everything is documented with photos.

The village is lovely, with lush surroundings, and the coastline is wonderful. But getting to this very beautiful place is a problem. A stay at this B&B is unthinkable for a disabled person. The two-room apartment is nice but nothing special, and you only get a glimpse of the sea from the top of a fairly steep, narrow hill where cars risk colliding. The garage is shared with all the other residents, who call at all hours because the cars are packed into a narrow space. Without the village and coastline, I wouldn't recommend the B&B at all. For the same price, a place on the seafront would make for a much less stressful holiday. Some people have called the apartment luxurious, but I don't agree. The recommended trips are exorbitantly priced. You can do them yourself for a fifth of the cost, since ferries run all day until evening to every destination.

Vietri sul Mare itself is a lovely place to explore the Amalfi Coast. It's less expensive than Amalfi or Postiano, pretty, and better connected to the rest of Campania by bus and train. The apartment's location is excellent too, 300 metres from the beach and 150 metres from shops and restaurants. Parking is available in town with the permit from the host. The host was quick to respond on WhatsApp and always available, though during our stay he showed potential tenants around without asking us. We spent a month here off-season, and I'd pick somewhere else in Vietri for a holiday. The flat is on the first floor of a tenement building with an elevator, and the WiFi is good. But the view is a wall with a leak, just 2 metres from the window. You can only see the sea if you lean out. The apartment is spacious, but its condition wasn't what I expected from the listing. The shower had mold, the bathroom often smelled of sewage, and the bedroom sofa bed was moldy and covered in fur. The washing machine was rusty, and carpet-pattern linoleum tiles were hiding a lot of dirt underneath. The host provides bed linen and towels. The kitchen has cutlery, pots, and plates, and a gas cylinder powers the stove. A church right next door rings loudly and regularly from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m., waking you in the morning. I don't recommend this place.
