I had a relaxing night at Le Roverelle, surrounded by nature and far from light pollution. After dark, the starry sky is unlike anything else I’ve seen in Italy. Maria greeted me with a rare warmth, always smiling and available. It’s also a great base for exploring Pollino National Park and going on excursions. The place is simple but well cared for, with basic, functional rooms and homemade pastries at breakfast. A few things could be better: the shower is cramped, and the TV doesn’t work. I’d happily return if I get the chance, and recommend it without hesitation.

We spent a weekend here with friends, gathering chestnuts. It’s a quiet spot surrounded by nature, and the owners are lovely, polite, and always willing to help. There’s nothing missing. A great place to get away from everyday hustle and bustle and recharge mentally. We’ll definitely come back.

The owner was extremely kind from our very first phone call and was helpful throughout the stay. The property has the look of a typical local farmhouse, set in Pollino’s unspoiled natural surroundings. It’s right in the heart of the park, a handy base for reaching the area’s nicest places and trails. A good fit if you want a quiet spot surrounded by greenery.

Maria, the hostess, went out of her way to make us comfortable and was incredibly helpful. The accommodation is simple, pretty, and comfortable, with everything you need, right on the way to Colle Impiso. We felt at ease there, though we only had one night before climbing Serra Dolcedorme and Monte Pollino. We’d love to return.

I have to wonder whether the owners would accept these standards when they travel, or whether they’d risk being shut down by the NAS. The rooms weren’t clean, with bugs and cobwebs. Breakfast didn’t feel fresh, more like leftovers brought from home. The shower had no proper enclosure, just a dirty curtain that stuck to you and left the bathroom flooded. At check-in, the owners brought up their financial and family problems, which was uncomfortable. The TV was only 18 inches and mounted four meters from the bed. And guests should be warned that the road is in terrible shape, especially if they’re arriving in a sports car or another low vehicle. In my opinion, the problem is that they’ve never traveled beyond the Monticchio Lakes, so they don’t seem open to tourism or suited to the work they’re trying to do. Nothing personal, but I think they’re in the wrong profession.
