Hotel Cristallo

After an unexpectedly snowy September day, the heating came on and my room stayed lovely and warm. During my 11 nights at Hotel Cristallo, I also enjoyed the sauna a few times after hiking and a beautiful view from the balcony. The room was very comfortable, and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was a delicious buffet with plenty of choice, and the waitress was always helpful. The hotel is a short but steep walk from the town centre, the cable car, and the supermarket. It's also handy for the Carpe Diem bus stop, where all the buses call, and getting around is easy, especially with the free bus pass from the hotel. Thanks to everyone at Cristallo for making this such a fantastic base for exploring the mountain hikes around Val di Fassa. I especially loved Val Duron, with stunning scenery, a fairly flat and accessible first few kilometres, and a shuttle bus that was rather expensive. I hope to return and explore more, and I'll definitely book Hotel Cristallo again.

The staff really made our stay. Everyone went out of their way to help us feel at home, even sorting out a quick fix when our rental car got a flat tire. The rooms were lovely too, with a gorgeous mountain view. I’d recommend it to anyone heading to Vigo Di Fassa.

It was cold in the room at night, since the heating only came on in the morning and afternoon, apparently to keep up appearances. The owner seemed unpleasant and never smiled or engaged with guests. Dinner was especially disappointing: the starter buffet was always the same, just tomatoes and some beans, and water with dinner cost extra. Breakfast was fine, but identical every day. I wouldn’t recommend the place. Overall it felt poor, and the hotel seemed close to falling apart.

The rooms were fine, with basic furniture, and the sauna was small and usually occupied. Breakfast stayed the same each day, though the food was good and the staff helpful. I had a good stay and would recommend the hotel.
