Residence Apparthotel

We left after three nights even though we'd paid for all four. I've stayed at around a dozen hotels and B&Bs in Sardinia just this year, and this was easily the worst. We only booked it because our trip was short and we needed somewhere to sleep and have breakfast before heading out early. We usually don't spend much time at hotels. If you want to enjoy breakfast or sleep in, avoid this place. I wasn't expecting much after reading the reviews, but it still managed to disappoint. We decided after the first morning to eat breakfast elsewhere, even though we'd paid for it. As a business owner myself, when I arrived with my wife and two young boys, I immediately got the feeling the place was being run with the bare minimum just to keep it going and squeeze out whatever remained. I don't mind older things if they're looked after and clean, but this place felt like it hadn't seen any care in at least 20 or 30 years. The problems seemed to cover everything, from the rooms and buildings to the porches, gardens, fridges, air conditioning, furniture, and bathrooms. The floors around the property didn't seem to get swept regularly, and the outside flooring looked as if it hadn't been maintained in decades. The rooms had hardly any windows, and the few small ones had prison-style bars in front of them. Our room was dark, narrow, and immediately smelled strongly of mold. The two extra beds for our children were in another room, old military-style bunk beds. That could be an issue if your children are small and still need their mother nearby. I was also concerned they could fall out while rolling over. We moved their mattresses onto the floor in our room so they could sleep with us. The shower had no movable head, and the water was cold about 80% of the time. There were no shower walls, so the floor got flooded whenever we used it. The room had a prison-cell feel. The air conditioner and fridge looked like they were from the 1990s. The fridge looked as if someone had urinated inside it. What upset me was that nobody seemed to have cleaned or replaced it in decades. Cheap small fridges aren't a big investment every 10 or 20 years, and they could at least be kept clean or replaced when they look like something died inside. The location and property itself are really nice, and the place could be made into something lovely and even charge much more. But the owners seem like the kind of business owners who are afraid to invest, try new things, or put in a little work. The spot is central, but not that central. Earlier this year I stayed at nice hotels right in the center of villasimius for similar or even lower prices. If you're thinking it's worth it just because it's a little cheaper, keep in mind that cheap doesn't always mean good value.
