Magica Torre Medievale

I’d read that Viterbo’s old towers are in the center, as part of the 13th-century city walls, so this place doesn’t really fit the “medieval tower” description. It might be nice otherwise, but getting there means taking a dirt road that’s rough on a clean car. It’s also quite far from Viterbo, and the price doesn’t seem right for that location.

The owner’s kindness is one of the nicest things about this place. It’s a renovated medieval tower, surrounded by green countryside, but still only about a five-minute drive from the center. There are two rooms and a peaceful garden, and breakfast was excellent.

The rooms were spotless, and even the sheets and towels smelled fresh. They’re spacious, with lovely high ceilings crossed by wooden beams and carefully looked-after furnishings. This isn’t an ordinary B&B: it’s an old tower brought up to date with every comfort, while keeping a refined rustic feel. Mrs. Ida was so kind and helpful that we felt right at home, and she served us an excellent breakfast too. The countryside setting is wonderfully peaceful, yet Terme dei Papi and Terme di Salus are just a five-minute drive away. We’ll definitely come back.

Olive trees surround the tower, and the city views are lovely. The rooms are very spacious, quiet and clean, and the hospitality was excellent.
