Casa Volaterra

We loved the genuine food and the warm hospitality from Anna and Maria. The agritourismo was a lovely place to stay.

We found the place by chance and fell for it straight away. The room was just right, and the family running it made us feel at home. Breakfast was excellent, with local ingredients, homemade bread and cakes that had been leavened eight or nine times. The pool is beautiful too, filled with salt from the Volterra salt pans. A lovely setting for a relaxing stay with good company, and one I’d happily recommend.

That family breakfast is something I’ll remember: fresh bread I’d watched rise the night before, homemade croissants, warm apple tarts, juice squeezed by the owners, and local savory foods. Annamaria’s warmth and empathy made it feel even more special. The apartment was spotless and carefully renovated in a way that kept its character. After three wonderful days in the Tuscan hills, staying at Casa Volaterra, really in Annamaria and Paolo’s home, was the best choice we could have made. We’ll have to return for the lovely saltwater pool, where each apartment has its own private area. Five stars don’t feel like enough.

We had a wonderful vacation at Casa Volaterra and would gladly come back. It’s centrally located for excursions, and the private pool made for peaceful, relaxing afternoons. The apartments were very clean and had a kitchenette and dining area, though we barely needed them because Anna Maria can prepare delicious homemade meals on request, using fresh things from her garden. Maria and Paolo manage the place with so much care, and the hosts are what make it special. Erwin and Verena
