The owner and manager is a real gem, and our stay was delightful. We felt right at home. After spending nine months in Italy, it was here that I understood why Italian food is so widely loved. We enjoyed her excellent homemade dishes, and the prices were remarkably affordable. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an authentic Italian experience surrounded by nature.

The view from the outside terrace is wonderful, and the price was good. It’s very quiet, with parking nearby that’s easy to reach, though Volterra is about a 20-minute walk. The restaurant was closed in mid-May. Breakfast was tasty, but we were almost the only guests, apart from another couple. Our room had an unused open fireplace, a small table, and a cupboard. In the bathroom, I’d have preferred a shower stall to the curtain.

A peaceful spot in the hills just below Volterra. You’ll need a car, but the rooms are lovely, the scenery is beautiful, and the staff are kind. I can’t fault it.

We had two rooms, and both had insects and a lizard. There was hair in the bed, which made me wonder if the bedding had been changed. Noise from other rooms was a problem, and breakfast was a mess.
