Hotel Volterra In Superior

The local homemade cakes at breakfast were delicious, and the staff were cordial and helpful. We had a nice, clean, modern room with a beautiful terrace overlooking the town and valley. The hotel is quiet and right in the historic center, near a large public parking lot, though it has no parking of its own. The air conditioning failed on two of our three nights in July, and the heat made things uncomfortable. Our room was right under the roof, so we got a fan that helped somewhat. Other guests weren’t as lucky, including our daughter in another room, and didn’t sleep well. Management apologized, but couldn’t arrange service over the weekend. I’d consider air conditioning essential in summer.

The breakfast was incredible, the best I’ve had so far in Italian three or even four-star hotels. This very new hotel is perfectly placed in the heart of Volterra. The rooms are spacious and have every comfort, and the staff are kind. You can tell they really care about their guests. A perfect stay.

Getting to the front door by car isn’t a good idea; I’d park at P1. Once there, check-in was easy, and the woman at reception spoke amazing English and was very nice. Breakfast was exceptionally hearty for such a small price. The recently renovated room was clean and comfortable, and the location is awesome, just steps from Volterra’s famous 2,500 year old gate and everything else. This three-star hotel punches above its weight. Highly recommend.

The gentleman running this excellent hotel was extremely friendly, efficient, and obliging. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and everything about it was excellent.
