Borgo Fontanini

We had such a cozy time on the beautiful terrace looking out over the valley. Sylvia and Pier share a love of local, artisanal products and turn them into delicious things. Sylvia was so friendly and gave us lots of information about the region. We were treated like family when we arrived, and even our dog was spoiled with food. Communication with Sylvia beforehand was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the beautifull Tower House. Thanks for letting us experience it.

We came back to Borgo Fontanini this year after 11 years, and Silvia and Pier were wonderfully hospitable. They struck just the right balance between being attentive and friendly while giving us room to relax. The terrace view is stunning, especially at sunset with a drink in hand. S&P arranged a visit to Cantina Illleri and a tour of a local Parmesan maker, recently made famous by a well known foodie actor. Both were excellent. We finished with a private dinner cooked by Pier, a chef and former Bolognese restaurant owner, and Silvia. Perfetto! There are plenty of hikes around, including some that start right at the door. You’d struggle to find many without local advice. Silvia has so many ‘hidden gems’ to suggest, from places to eat and things to do to places to avoid, that you’d need at least a month to get through them all. They also offer cooking classes in their professional kitchen. For a relaxed, cozy, rustic and authentic experience of Appenine Emilia-Romagna, this is the place. I wish I could give it 10 stars.

A lovely place to rest in Monteombraro, with comfortable homes, a relaxing atmosphere, and a scenic view. They offer typical products, cooking lessons, and walking routes. The hosting is perfect!

You’ll need to rent a car to reach this 800-year-old tower. We liked the view, even though it was foggy and rainy, and managed to cook several meals. The kitchen is on the ground floor, with a living room and wood fireplace above it, then a bedroom and bathroom on each of the next three floors. The bathrooms are clean, and our bed was comfortable. The twin beds on the second floor were rather hard.
