We came as a group of about 12 for my grandfather’s 60th birthday, with around five rooms booked. My aunt had stayed here before and recommended it. We’d all visited Jamaica previously and stayed at other resorts. We also spent a lot as a group, buying several cabanas on most days and booking excursions. The service was awful. My grandfather was put in the wrong room for days, a downgrade from what he’d paid for, and another family member’s AC was broken. When we were leaving, staff took so long with our bags that we had to get them ourselves before our scheduled ride left. The worst part was a new Canon camera worth $900 that my grandfather had received as a gift at dinner. It stayed in his room throughout the trip and was missing just before we left. We’re certain it was taken from his room. I contacted the hotel about a month later, then spent almost a year being passed around by phone and email. Even after an insurance claim and providing receipts, they said they couldn’t replace it and offered a laughable $100-150 for a brand new $900 camera. We vacation every year and will be in Aruba this summer. We’ve been to Jamaica plenty of times, but we’ll never return to this resort. I’ve added a photo so you can see how many of us came and infer how much we spent. Refusing to replace a camera stolen on the property after all that bad service, and losing potential repeat customers, is a terrible business move.

We had a wonderful stay for my daughter’s wedding at the Hyatt Ziva. The location was perfect, we loved our room, and the service was great. Only problem was the shower gel pump, which was hard to use. Other family members had the same issue.

The managers and staff at the Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall in Montego Bay deserve so much recognition for how they looked after us before, during, and after Hurricane Melissa. I was stuck in Montego Bay because of the storm, and they kept us calm, clean, and fed the whole time. They waived all fees and refunded the extra days we’d initially paid for. Other resorts in the area didn’t provide the same experience, largely because of the uncertainty, which I understand. Hyatt Ziva took charge and made sure we all got home safely. These employees were caring for strangers when they could have been home with their own families. Please consider donating to the Hyatt Relief Fund. They promised to match donations and give them directly to employees. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all the love you gave each guest.

The food was below average, and the staff weren’t as friendly as I’d hoped. We’d recently stayed at the royalton Jamaica, where the staff were amazing compared with this Hyatt resort. We booked the adults-only side for a short getaway, but every food spot was on the zilara family side. Having to walk over several times a day for meals was tiring and disappointing, and we still ran into kids every day.

The water was a little choppy, but everything else was amazing. Our eldest loved having a cabana and snacks brought to him. Thanks to all the wonderful staff!
