I stayed three nights and four days. It has a calm, relaxing feel and is close to downtown restaurants and attractions. Breakfast is included, and I tried both cooked and continental options on alternate mornings. It was very nice. The bar staff were friendly and helpful, and it was convenient to add drinks, lunch, or dinner to the bill and pay when checking out. There's a refundable payment for damages. The front desk woman was welcoming. You use a card in the lift for your room floor and to enter the room, and it also controls the electricity. There are two lifts, one for the rooms and another for the bar and restaurant. The restaurant, bar, and lap pool are on the roof. My room had a mini fridge stocked with water, an ice bucket, and a coffee machine. The walls are thin, so you can hear everything. I expected a pool, but it's just a narrow strip of water lengthwise, and I don't think more than seven people could fit without it getting tight. There's not much entertainment, and the bar closes early. I'd recommend it for adults looking for somewhere to stay away from home life. 4.5 stars overall.
The biggest annoyance was getting ready for an event. There were hardly any outlets: only one for shavers in the bathroom, and the one by the bed had no mirror nearby. Parking was also difficult because of the small driveways and garage, with narrow turns to navigate. We only noticed the outdoor parking after we were already inside. The room was a decent size, clean, and modern. Service was great, the front desk was pleasant, and I enjoyed the delicious breakfast.
Breakfast was tasty, and the room was clean, comfortable, modern, and a decent size. The staff were friendly and professional, and the front desk handled things well. There were a couple of small hiccups that kept the stay from being perfect, but I had a really good experience at R Hotel Kingston. I'd stay again and recommend it as a clean, convenient place in Kingston.
That chicken Alfredo pasta was chefs kiss, but the BBQ bake chickin was terrible, and the rice and peas seemed rushed. There was also a bit of a wait for the food. The restaurant is okay, though it has too many high seats. I get that they're meant to give you a city view, but the tall ones should be more comfortable. It's a very small hotel, and parking could be tricky if you drive a big vehicle because the space is tight. Would I go back? Nope, I just wanted the experience.
I’ve stayed at R Hotel several times, and Monique Williams at the front desk has been the one receptionist who treated me with such kindness and grace. She was exceptionally helpful and caring. Thank you, Monique Williams. Keep treating people so well, and good things will come your way. Five stars, give her a raise!
