Tensing Pen Hotel

After two days at a boutique hotel on 7-mile beach, arriving here felt like my vacation had finally started. This resort made the whole trip and gave me the best experience I've had. We're dog lovers, so meeting the resort pups was a highlight, and the restaurant food was way better than I expected. Great and Razor at the bar make excellent drinks. Such a memorable stay. Daily yoga with Fannette was one of my favorite parts of the trip. Practicing on a cliff above that unreal blue water was hard to beat. I also had a drumming lesson with Calbert, which was fun and memorable. The Jamaican pepper steak was one of the best meals I had in Negril, and the pineapple chicken and breakfast banana bread were favorites too. I've been coming to Negril for more than 10 years, usually staying on 7 Mile Beach, so my first time on the cliffs at Tensing Pen was a refreshing change. It felt peaceful, private, and restorative, just what I hadn't realized I needed. The property is lush, well kept, and calm, with butterflies and hummingbirds in the day and tree frogs singing at night. I felt safe enough to leave my room unlocked. The staff were phenomenal from the moment I arrived, warm, attentive, and genuinely lovely. Special thanks to Paul the lifeguard, Michelle, Splinta, Razor, and everyone else. As a solo Black American woman, I care about how I'm treated and feel in a space. I did overhear a few uncomfortable comments from other guests, but the staff made me feel welcomed, respected, and at ease throughout. My room was spacious and comfortable, though the handheld showerhead had noticeable mildew, which surprised me given how well the rest was maintained. The place has a special energy, and I'd definitely return.

You can swim and snorkel straight from the property, and that was a highlight for us. Paul, the lifeguard, guided us and pointed out amazing marine life. I wish I'd had an underwater camera. He even dove down to bring up sea creatures so we could see them close. We saw a giant manta ray, tiger fish, and blowfish. Majestic and unforgettable. The grounds at Tensing Pen are stunning, perched on cliffs above the sea, and the photos don't do it justice. It has recovered beautifully from Hurricane Melissa. The atmosphere is serene, the sunsets spectacular, and the staff are warm, friendly, and courteous. A continental breakfast is included and was plenty to start the day. The on-site restaurant is one of the area's most popular, so reservations are highly recommended. The bar has happy hour every day from 3:40 to 5 pm. You can walk to famous Rick’s Café, Ivan’s, and other good restaurants, but watch out for cars coming fast. There are dogs on the property, so you have to love dogs. I'd definitely return.

In February 2026, I got engaged at TENSING PEN, and the location and views made an ideal setting for such a special moment. Sha‑Wayde and Diana supported us throughout, responding quickly and taking care of the details. They helped make the day magical, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
