Villas Sur Mer

Villas Sur Mer is worth what we paid. The accommodations aren’t posh, but they’re truly wonderful island lodging. We had an experience of a lifetime, taking in the scenery and enjoying the people and food.

The pool, jacuzzi, and cave were breathtaking. It was a refreshing getaway for my partner and me, and because it was a slow season we basically had the entire property to ourselves. Carmen, the property manager, was absolutely amazing. I’d book here again over any five-star hotel in a heartbeat.

Villa Sur Meh. The price didn’t match what we got, and I wouldn’t stay again. The photos are misleading: unless you rent the six-bedroom house, you’re not on the cliff looking out at the water. Our place was across the street by Rick’s bus parking lot, and walking toward town meant passing the local vendors outside Rick’s each time. The hot tub didn’t work. The pool was nice, though shady. We had to move because the electricity failed in our first rooms. In the second room, the couch sagged and could use replacing. The bathroom smelled like a sewer, so we kept the door shut and held our noses when going in. I don’t need much, and I tried to treat myself by staying here, but it just wasn’t worth the cost. Meh.

Our one-bedroom cottage had a queen bed, kitchen, living area, bathroom, and patio. Each cottage is detached and surrounded by lush greenery, so it stays peaceful, quiet, and relaxing. There are no meals served on the property, but plenty of places are nearby. The pool and hot tub were magnificent, with access around the clock. Carmen, the property manager, was amazing.
