We tried to stay in good spirits and make things comfortable for both ourselves and our host, but the lack of hospitality, consideration, and transparency made a hard stay worse. We paid US$100 for 3 nights and had very limited water, which we had to request access to each day. There was no drinking water offered, and the nearest stores were at least a 30-minute walk away. We couldn't use the kitchen at all. Yesterday we asked for water for an hour so we could shower, but were allowed access only to the toilet. We were relieved when it rained, because we could collect rainwater to wash with. Even though we came prepared to camp in the jungle, the conditions were very difficult. We felt used.

Oneill was friendly and helpful, and the place looks just like the photos. It’s a genuine local Jamaican stay, not a luxury place in a tourist area. If that’s what you want, you’ll love it.

The showers are cold, and getting around would be tough with mobility problems. The steps are loose and dangerous, with little handrail support. Once you reach the cabin, the climb back out feels daunting enough to make you not want to leave.

O'neil said he heard our complaints and would make things better. I’d only recommend going after confirming the price and that the place has been properly cleaned. The setting is beautiful, and the larger room is spacious and well equipped. We weren’t looking for a hotel experience, just something authentic, but authentic shouldn’t mean filthy or greedy. We enjoyed ourselves elsewhere too, so do your math. Blessed love. My girlfriend and I stayed one night and told the owner about the problems the next morning. The place was really unclean, with what seemed like a million life forms in the kitchen drawers and closets. The sheets smelled bad, though the owner said they were new, and the toilets and shower were filthy. There was no water pressure, toilet paper, or towels for customers. The price also didn’t feel right. On the phone, he offered a nice place for 7000 JAD, while online I saw prices of 3700 to 4300 JAD. At the property he showed us two rooms. The smaller one, which wasn’t ready for us, was 3700. The other was 7000, but we bargained it down to 6000 JAD. The next day I saw that same room for 4300. We paid more than we should have. I hope the extra money helps the family, but that extra 2700 JAD earned a bad review, along with the other issues. We don’t like scammers!

If you need reliable WiFi for work, this isn't the place for you. There are two internet connectors, but neither worked well for me. Oneil says the internet is working, though he lives at the top of the hill and gets a different service from yours. The apartment itself was okay, but it's very far from everything, up a mountain and down a hill, so you need taxis to leave. It's suited to someone who doesn't need WiFi and can spend on taxis every day. Using the shower means going outside to turn on the water, which quickly gets inconvenient. In 95 percent of places in jamaica, you don't have to do that. Oneil cooks for guests, but the food is overpriced; you could get it cheaper at a local restaurant or grocery store. Some listed amenities aren't there: iron, TV, wifi, hangers, hair dryer, and laptop workspace with a chair. It isn't handicapped friendly either, since you have to climb lots of stairs.
