Grand Muthu Runaway Bay Club Caribbean

We’ve stayed here before, and it’s become one of our regular spots. The property stretches along the shore, with several beaches, a lively pool and a quiet one. The grounds are clean and well kept, and the resident cats are adorable. Staff were helpful and friendly, and there was always tea and coffee. Meals run at set times, with an à la carte option in the evenings. Since it was quiet, the snack stand wasn’t open, but there were small sandwiches in the lobby. The buffet had plenty for us: at least a dozen hot dishes, something cooked to order, and a very good cold selection. Some guests might want more options, but we found the food fresh and varied enough. The bars used standard liquor, and the staff made excellent blended drinks when asked. I prefer those to the slushie machines. Beer was El Presindente or Red Stripe. We booked just after the management change, while things were still getting going, and it didn’t affect our stay. It was slow, which suited us fine. The only small annoyances were the fridge being on the floor and creamer packets at the coffee station after hours. I’ve seen the same at hotels in the US and elsewhere in Jamaica. I’d love to keep this place a secret, but I can’t give it a bad review. Best wishes to the new management, and we’ll be back.

We had such a wonderful honeymoon weekend at Grand Muthu. The staff were attentive and genuinely caring, and the atmosphere was lovely. The food was great too. My husband and I will definitely return for a longer stay. Just wonderful 😊

There were basic cleanliness problems throughout my stay: a dirty glass was left in the room the whole time, and the sheets were filthy. The food was only average, and I found the hotel roach-infested. My reservation was canceled when I arrived to check in, and the staff were rude, especially after they realized I was local. An item was stolen from my room, and when I reported it, nobody seemed concerned. One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. Save your time and money and book somewhere else.

I really enjoyed my stay and everyone was friendly, but I’m upset that the new staff fired Akeem Henry. He was one of the best people there, worked hard, and loved his job. That’s not right. Everyone deserves a chance. The nightly prices have gone up too, and I don’t think people will come at those rates. I was hoping to return in April, but with all the bad reviews and what I keep hearing about what’s going on, I don’t feel like coming back.
