The staff and the setting made this a stay I'd love to repeat. Silver Sands was peaceful, the water was clear, and the gated community had guards around the clock. The clubhouse has a vintage feel, changing rooms and showers, plus a small bar with reasonable prices. We barely had to share the beach, and snorkeling is worth bringing gear for. We met Mr. Shine, who sells shells and other things he finds in the ocean. He's quite a character and has stories, including one about a shark bite. Herbie's was a great stop for fresh seafood. I also felt locals looked out for tourists. A couple of times, people nearby told panhandlers off for coming up to me. Being respectful and paying attention to your surroundings seemed to matter. Dreamin Villa is practically on the beach, much closer than I expected from the online pictures. My husband and I stayed in the bright, airy sun room, and the bed was very comfortable. Our favorite feature was the outdoor shower. The house felt like a home with hotel touches: luggage racks, mini toiletries, makeup remover, AC in each bedroom, and really good Wi-Fi. We streamed movies even from the terrace. There are books, board games, floaties, boogie boards, and beach towels for guests, plus a full kitchen and a little drinks fridge on the patio. We asked to eat outside with the ocean as our background music. Before we arrived, the owner got in touch to ask what we needed and walked us through practical tips, places to visit, shopping with local artisans, and activities. The VIP airport meet and greet costs extra, but I thought it was worth it. The owner suggested WhatsApp for international calls, and we used the free Wi-Fi instead of roaming. There is a grocery delivery option to Silver Sands, including things like Sensodyne, for a small fee. We could use a card or cash for guest expenses, but it's best to discuss that with the owner. Ms. Claudette was so sweet and accommodating. She came in to clean, could do laundry if needed, and cooked two meals of our choice. I think she was there from 10 to 5 each day. The food was wonderful, especially the Jamaican menu. She also makes American food. I fell for ackee and saltfish, and the local produce had a deeper flavor to me. Ask for avocado, papaya, or mango if they're in season. Local vendors bring vegetables and fish door to door, so we didn't need to deal with them ourselves. The house made it easy to just get up, swim, relax, and sometimes wander where locals hang out. Jamaicans were kind to us. I'd love to spend a summer there every year. Even if you want to party, you could stay here and hire a car to Montego. I was glad to have the calm of Dreamin Villa to come back to.
