Mansour Hotel

I planned to stay four days, but ended up here for 26. It was my favorite affordable hotel in Amman, and the owner was excellent. The staff were very friendly too. They should work more on keeping the rooms and toilet clean, though. With more attention to cleanliness, this could be the best hotel.

The owner was kind enough to bring me a falafel sandwich, and when I arrived I was given my own bathroom at no extra charge, so I didn’t have to share with other male guests. The staff were friendly and helpful, and both the room and bathroom were clean. It’s a good budget option in Amman’s old city centre.

The host was kind and helped me order a taxi, so he gets the one star. The room, though, was very dirty. There were no sheets, and the blanket smelled awful and clearly hadn’t been washed for a while. The bathroom was in terrible shape, with water barely coming from the tap and dirt and footprints across the floor. You could hear everything through the nearly nonexistent walls between rooms. I had to wear headphones at night so I wouldn’t hear my neighbor coming and going.

This is a great spot for someone traveling on a budget. Breakfast changed every day, which was nice, and the owner became more helpful and kind the longer I stayed. He drew maps for us and helped us do everything cheaply. The rooms and showers were very Jordan.
