Ramada Hotel & Suites Amman

The elevators were quick and worked fine, but the shower pressure was so weak it took at least three minutes to wet my hair. The worn white towels had gone a bit grey and felt stiff. The lobby floors looked shiny and spotless at first, giving a four-star impression, though the hotel felt more like somewhere between three and four stars after that. Breakfast was unremarkable, with hot dogs standing in for sausages.

The pool is available, and there's ping pong downstairs, plus a lobby coffee and drinks bar and a liquor bar upstairs. Rooms are spacious, clean, and reasonably well kept, with an American-style setup and bottled water in the fridge. Breakfast is okay: fresh fruit and vegetables, several kinds of bread and pastries, Jordanian and European hot dishes, and eggs made to order, including omelettes and sunny-side-up. There are teas, coffee, and heated milk too. Lunch and dinner are inexpensive, with pizza, burgers, salads, soups, and hot-plate meals. The dinner buffet is a good deal as well.

For the price, it's a decent deal if you don't expect to spend much time relaxing in the hotel. The rooms are generally well maintained, but ours had a noticeable smell and faced a nearby school, so the morning recess noise was uncomfortable. The breakfast buffet was just average for both variety and quality.

The hotel is a little far from the city center. Staff were friendly and helpful, but our room was so noisy that I couldn't sleep properly for two nights. Dinner was fine; breakfast was low quality.
