Sun Rise Hotel

The price shown online is 16, but the owner saw my passport, realized I was from Europe, and charged me 25 instead. The room was cold and very noisy from street traffic, and the overall quality was poor for the price. This old hotel has very bad service and isn't worth it. Do not visit.

The room and bathroom were filthy, there was no hot water, and the shower didn’t work. I’d booked a very cheap bed in the women’s dorm, so at first I tried to put up with it. On the second morning I asked them to clean dried feces from the toilet. There wasn’t even a brush so I could do it myself. They said they would take care of it, but by afternoon nothing had changed. When I asked again politely, they said the cleaner had to finish other rooms first. Then they said they couldn’t prioritize the toilet because I was the only person in the room. The owner’s son was already arguing with someone on the phone. He got aggressive with me, said he didn’t like how I spoke to him, and told me to leave for another hotel if I wasn’t happy. I was literally kicked out. It was intimidating, especially on only my second day in Jordan. Don’t stay here. The poor hospitality made the cheap price a waste of money and time.

Our room had black mold all over it. When I told the person at reception, he looked straight at me and said it wasn’t black mold and everything was fine. The sheets, floor, and shower were filthy too. The shower itself was okay, but dirty, and right beside a window that was incredibly noisy. We even had to wake reception when it was time to leave. Worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in, and it’s not worth paying anything to stay here.

I left after one night even though I’d booked three. My room had no warm water, so I had to shower in another room, and it faced a busy, noisy road. The place was dirty, and the man and woman at reception were rude and unprofessional. They seemed focused on selling extras like breakfast and phone cards. After I left, they reported me as a “no show” to Booking, so I had to prove I’d actually been there. I felt they did this to stop me reviewing the stay. Avoid this place. Amman has plenty of cheap options, and this one should be closed.
